Why Micro-Needling?
The major cause of advanced aging of our skin is the loss of our collagen and elastin matrix. Collagen loss is influenced largely by our genetics as well as our environmental and personal care habits. Burning and excessive accumulated UV exposure, smoking, poor nutritional habits, lack of consistent skin hygiene all can act to accelerate collagen loss and lead to premature skin aging.
A majority of the dermis is made up of collagen, approximately 75%. In healthy skin it is arranged in bundles known as a “basket-weave” formation, which provides the overall skin with its strength and prevents tearing and breakdown. Being that collagen decreases as we age, the skin tends to become thinner and sag as we get older.
Elastin maintains the skin’s tension and extensibility and composes approximately 5% of the skin’s formation. Elastin fibers can diminsh, breakdown and loose their normal structure with aging. In skin which has been overexposed to UV rays, sun exposure, elastin increases, and becomes thickened and therefore looses it’s normal. Fibroblasts are the The controlling dermal cells are known as fibroblasts; Micro-needling activates, through specific interactive signaling, neuro-dermal layers which procede to produce new collagen and elastin fibers.
